Super Steele leads the U11s home

YOUNGSTERS from Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club produced some fine performances in the final round of the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross-Country League at Birmingham’s Perry Park.

On mainly flat terrain, the athletes dug deep to conquer the hill which led them to the finish line.

The under-11s girls had a great turnout, with Josie Steele (24th), Amy Mijovic-Couldwell (27th), Kitty Luscombe (34th), Ellen Bowen (35th), Nicol Green (48th), Alice Battey (99th), Buffy Pinnegar (105th), Amy Tongue (111th) all finishing as the team came ninth.

The boys produced a team of three who came 12th overall.

Cameron Cooper led them home in 10th, followed by Josh Pearson (17th) and Theo Gardner (80th).

Olivia Gardner finished eighth in the under-13s girls category to take the highest B&R placing of the day. She was followed by Livvy Worth (20th), Abbie Kemp (36th), Molly Steele (59th) and Jordan Prust (73rd) as the team came ninth.

Ben O’Connor (29th) led the under-13s boys team of Liam Bowden (60th), Tom Ellis (74th) and Dominic Gardner (76th) which also took ninth.

In the under-15s category, Amelia Tompkin finish 14th, while Katie Plummer (22nd) and Ruth Gameson (54th) produced strong performances.
